My Year In Color – A Daily Color Diary

Occasionally, I get the urge to create a photo book documenting a year of my life. I find when I commit myself to taking a photo a day I tend to plan a lot more activities, which adds more variety when I look back over my year. It’s fun to do, but can be a bit stressful at times to remember to take a photo every day. It can also be a bit time consuming to create the book, but always well worth it.

Lately, I have been working a lot with codes and codebreaking as well as color and swatches. With some of my coded patterns, the codes are not only in the shapes of the graphic imagery, but also in the color.

I decided to combine the two concepts and started a daily color journal. As I document my color each day, I associate a feeling with a specific watercolor, thus creating a code as to what I was feeling each day.

I plan on doing this for 2022. Regardless of “cracking the code”, I think it will be fun to see my year in color.
